Hiroshi Nakamura is an architect from Japan. He was born in Tokyo in 1974 and spent his teenage years in Kamakura and Kanazawa. He graduated from the Graduate School of Meiji University in 1999 with a master's degree in architecture. Hiroshi Nakamura joined Kengo Kuma after graduation.
In 2002, Hiroshi Nakamura established his own architectural practice, Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP. Hiroshi Nakamura, who is obsessed with discovering new materials, believes that the creative spirit of a designer may breed new shapes, but it cannot change the way the object is used. Therefore, he always tries to explore the design concept of "Architecture and love", to discover the architectural forms that can change human's ability to feel and think.
Hiroshi Nakamura, one of Japan's new generation of architects, is known for his "reluctance to cut down trees" design philosophy. Nakamura believes that protecting nature is a matter of assessing economic feasibility and implementing scientific research. In recent years, he has been fascinated by traditional Japanese architecture and garden culture, which share the same essence as his design principles, and has successfully incorporated and reinterpreted some of the iconic elements into his work.
For Hiroshi Nakamura, architecture is about the relationship between nature and man. Through "microdesign", he found a dynamic balance between architecture, the natural environment and human emotion. Hiroshi Nakamura is dedicated to the design of site-specific work related to local history, culture and natural resources.
