The apartment is located in the downtown area of Moscow. General concept of this apartment is to bring the natural landscape inside the interior living environment. The owner is a dzenbuddist.
We tried to use less partitions and walls for zoning the space to avoid the closeness, to make it more spacious and opened, without compromising functionality.
We used the principle of traditional Japanese house.
This apartment building was built a view years ago, so the first sight was just among the concrete labyrinth. But the natural concrete texture was great and it was the first material we had chosen.
Thus the main polygonal wall appeared: this 20-meter long curved surface goes through all the open-space zone: entrance hall, tea room, garden, kitchen & dining zone. It takes all the technical stuff, store rooms, built-in kitchen, laundry room, wardrobe and guest bathroom.
All these utility zones are hidden from a view, leaving only pure open space.
Polygonal segments depicts the roughness of a natural stone, as a mountain fragment. The emotional point of this apartment is a garden. It locates in the center zone. Bathroom zone was also made from simple natural materials – marble and old wooden planks.Living room devides into tearoom and guestroom.
