A desert landscape is undoubtedly one of nature’s most breathtaking visions; the challenge of introducing a manmade creation while not upsetting its raw natural beauty is not one to be taken lightly.
The Amangiri resort in Canyon Point, Utah, designed by Rick Joy, Wendell Burnette & Marwan Al-Sayed, is a showcase of considerate design that masterfully creates a coherent flow between modernist structures and textured surroundings.
The resort, which has 34 suites and an array of shared facilities including several swimming pools, a library and an art gallery, uses a palette of colours that blend perfectly into the sandy environment. The dialogue between the built and bare, the slick and rugged, and the luxurious and basic will guarantee an immersive experience with nature for lucky visitors – but on their own terms.
